How can I talk to a person about my donation request?
Call our main number at (816) 966-0854. If no one answers, you can leave a message, and someone will return your call within 2 business days. Please leave a phone number where you can be reached, and don’t forget to check your messages! You could also email us at kcdonationpickupservice@gmail.com – if you don’t see a reply soon, check your junk mail or add us to your contacts.
How come my pick-up date changed?
There could be a number of reasons that we needed to change your pickup date. It might be that your address is in an area that is better served on another date. If we have a large number of requests for a certain date, we might try to reschedule your pickup to a better time, when we have more room on the trucks. In the event that inclement weather comes up quickly we might have our drivers come in without finishing a route for their safety. If we do need to move your date, we will call you or email you to make sure you know, so please check your email and phone messages.
It is raining; do I still put my donations outside?
KC Donation does not cancel pickup routes due to rain. It is beneficial if donated items are protected, covered or in a covered area. You can leave items in your garage if someone will be home on the pickup date. If you have any concerns feel free to contact our weather line at (816) 966-0854 or check the weather update at kcdonationpickup.org.
I didn’t receive a reminder call, what happened?
Here are a few possibilities that might have caused this to happen: we have an incorrect area code and/or phone number in our records; our system may have attempted to call a phone number that we not answered; our system attempted to leave a message but the message was not recorded on your voicemail system; your voicemail is not set up or is too full for a new message.
Do I still put my donations out even if I didn’t receive a reminder call?
Yes, please still put your items out but please call us at (816) 966-0854 or email us at kcdonationpickupservice@gmail.com to let us know that your donations are outside along with your name, address, zip and a phone number were you can be reached.
What furniture items do you accept?
KC Donation Pick-up accepts furniture and mattress items that are in acceptable condition. Items must not have any stains, tears or be in need of repair or cleaning, as we do not have those kinds of facilities. Unfortunately we cannot accept the following items: damaged furniture, pianos or organs, tires, batteries, chemicals, sofa sleepers and sofas or loveseats with reclining ends, TV’s and monitors other than flat-screen type, drop-side cribs (although we can accept cribs without drop-sides), baby or children’s carseats, or any sort of building material or fixtures such as toilets, sinks, stovetops, etc. If you have any question about a possible item you have please feel free to call us at (816) 966-0854 or text us at (816) 533-4916.
Where can I drop off my donations so I don’t have to wait for a pickup?
KC Donation Pickup accepts donations at a number of donation bins located in our communities. We also accept donations at any one of our local MAJ-R Thrift and Discount Store locations. Click here to find a donation bin near you.
It’s 4:00PM and you haven’t picked up my donations, are you still coming?
Often times our teams are still out picking up donations into the late afternoon. However, if you have any concerns please feel free to call us at (816) 966-0854 or text us at (816) 533-4916.
There is snow on the ground. Should I still put my donations outside?
KC Donation Pickup carefully evaluates road conditions for our ability to safely complete donation pickups. If you have any questions please call our weather hotline at (816) 966-0854 or check our website at kcdonationpickup.org. On inclement weather days the web site and hotline are updated at 6:00AM. In the event that we are forced to cancel a route, we will notify you via email and/or phone and implement the closest reschedule date.
